SEATTLE/SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp.on Tuesday said a critical flaw in most versions of its flagship Windows operating system could allow attackers to run malicious programs on personal computers.
In its monthly security bulletin, the world's largest software maker warned that Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 were at risk and offered software updates to fix the flaws, which were given Microsoft's highest severity rating of "critical."
微软昨天表示在大多数版本的Windows操作系统中存在一个可以让攻击者在用户个人电脑上运行恶意程序的严重漏洞。

Andy Bechtolsheim, who left Sun in 1995 to pursue other business opportunities, currently leads Kealia Inc., which develops advanced server technologies. Sun's acquisition of Kealia is expected to close later this year, the companies said Tuesday. Sun spokeswoman May Petry declined to disclose terms of the deal.

AMSTERDAM (AFP) - Royal Philips Electronics reported forecast-busting fourth-quarter results helped by cost savings and a return to profitability at all its five divisions.
Net profit improved to 598 million euros (763.5 million dollars) or 0.46 euros per share, from a loss of 1.53 billion or a loss per share of 1.20 euros a year earlier.

PARIS (AFP) - Alcatel, the French maker of telecommunications equipment, and Draka Holding will merge their global optical fiber and communication cable businesses to create a world leader, Alcatel revealed.
Draka, a Dutch holding specializing in cable and cable systems, will own 50.1 percent of the new company and Alcatel 49.9 percent, the French group said Tuesday.
